Our Family: Australians Who Love to Travel

Writing about travel planning and optimising brings together our fields of expertise and our hobby, giving us a unique, informed and reliable perspective to help with your planning.

All the blogging is done by our main travel planner, Jane. These days, Jane is a teacher who operates a business supporting students of all ages and creating teaching materials. It is her job to present information in a logical and relatable way. She has become an expert at breaking down big topics into manageable chunks. The blog allows her to apply her teaching skills to her favourite topic – travel!

Before she was a teacher, Jane studied in the fields of psychology and law, and also gained project management qualifications while working as a Project Manager. In many ways, each trip is like a project, with planning, execution and evaluation phases. There are budgets, deadlines and tasks to manage, and families are like stakeholders. We think this is partly why we find planning and writing about travel just as enjoyable as our trips themselves: We appreciate a good plan and we love reflecting on what went well and what could be improved for future trips.

When you read material produced by Travel Fun with Four, you can feel confident that you are receiving well-considered, honest advice based on our experiences and presented in a way we hope will help you make your own travel plans the best they can be.

We welcome questions and advice. Being part of the family travel community is about sharing experiences and learning from others. This website is our way of making a contribution.

Thank you for visiting our site. Happy travels!

The Challenges of Travel with Four Children

We've made family travel a family hobby for around three years now, and in that time, we have come to recognise that travelling with more than two children makes everything a little more complicated. For example:

  • A lot of accommodation options are suited to families of four and not larger groups

  • Discounts and deals for 'families' are often created for families of four

  • The children outnumber us!

  • The range of interests is broader due to the age range

When we began searching for tips, tricks, ideas and recommendations for family travel with four children, we didn't find much information. This gave us the idea of starting this website as a way to record our journeys, and as a way of sharing things we have learnt with other larger families who enjoy travel as much as we do.

It's a passion project. Our honest advice comes from our own,  experience. We truly hope that what we share will make travel even more fun for families with four children!
